Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School Cot Irie Aceh Besar
Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School is one of boarding schools in Aceh Besar. Actually, this boarding school is located in Meunasah Lampermai Cot Irie, Kec. Krueng Barona Jaya. It was esthablished in 2001. This boarding school is a private school, organized under Bungong Jeumpa Foundation, and esthablished by the alumnae of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo Jawa Timur.
This boarding school has been being managed by Tgk. H. Fakhruddin Lahmuddin and the alumnae of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo Jawa Timur and their own alumnae. In addition, Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School has junior and senior High School levet. Junior High school level named MTsS Al-Manar and Senior High School named MAS Al-Manar. Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School has enough facilities to encourage teacher and students in teaching learning process, they are as follow: Kitchen, Library, Female Dormitory, Male Dormitory, School Building, Canteen, Coperation, Sport Field and Office Administration.
The students live in dormitory and they have to communicate in English and Arabic as their formal language. It is compulsory for them to talk in English and Arabic everyday and it’s run continously two week each language. Otherwise, they will get punishment.
Teacher is one of the most important factors in teaching-learning process. The duty of a teacher is not only to teach students, but also to motivate and to attract students interest in learning. According to Sukirah, “The teacher of course is important in learning situation. His/her skill pesonality is instrument that create the condition for learning.” Therefore the theacher should have skills, knowledge of method and techniques of teaching
The total number of teachers at Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School are twenty one. Fifteen of them graduated from IAIN Ar-Raniry, and the rest of them graduated from Unsyiah. At present, Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School has four English teachers. Their name are Mr. Agus, Mr. Afendi, Mr. Rama Satria and Mr. Ade Suhendri.
Curriculum is a very crucial role which can help teacher in running teaching-learning process, and choosing what material they are going to teach. It contains guidelines for teacher regarding to allocation of time, the sequence arrangement of the lessons and types of the test guide lines.
In Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School applied three integrated curriculum in operating teaching learning process. They are; the curriculum of national department or KTSP include Macth, Chemistry, IPA, IPS, etc, Islamic traditional curriculum such as Kitab Kawakib, Bidayah, ets, and the curriculum of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo Jawa Timur such as Grammar, Dictation, Tarbiyah Wa Ta’lim, Amaliyah Tadris, Fathul Kutub, Paper at the end of their study and extracurriculum such as Pidato 3 Bahasa, Daily Conversation, Morning Vocabulary, Running Morning and others. In teaching learning process.
They combine both islamic and general subject, for example: they study Math, Fiqh, Biology, Arabic, Chemistry, Nahwu, Calligraphy and Traditional Islamic Book or Kitab Kuning these all are learnt from 7.30 to 13.15.
According to the curriculum used at this boarding school, English is taught three times a week and planned into all aspects of the skills such as, Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing, Grammar and Dictation.
